Situated just 20 miles west of Manhattan, Burger Deluxe in New Jersey is a family-friendly restaurant with a retro flair. Since opening in 2008, this lively eatery has served up premium half-pound burgers and nostalgic desserts like milkshakes, floats, and egg creams.
The dishes on their menu are made with the freshest ingredients and high-quality cuts of Pat LaFrieda beefs for the burgers, meeting the customers’ expectation from the Livanos family who owns the restaurant. Burger Deluxe also feature an extensive children’s menu, weekend brunch, and fun fountain drinks. It is definitely the ideal spot for any family occasion.
We’ve asked Burger Deluxe for a recipe they think people would truly enjoy this winter season. They were kind enough to hand us their recipe for “Bloody Mary Burger.” It’s ideal for the season because it delivers a subtle and warming spiciness that will truly take your taste buds on a roller coaster ride.
Bloody Mary Burger
2 pounds Ground Beef
4 cans Tomato Juice (8 ounces)
2 Lemons
4 long Celery Sticks
2 Cucumbers
1 tablespoon Horseradish
1 tablespoon Tabasco
2 ounces Worcestershire Sauce
1 teaspoon Celery Salt
1 bunch Parsley
Kosher Salt
Fresh Ground Black Pepper
4 leaves Lettuce, washed and dried
4 slices Tomato
4 slices Pickle
4 soft Potato or Brioche Rolls
Method
-Bloody Mary Sauce-
1. Combine Tomato Juice, diced Celery, Horseradish, Tabasco, Celery Salt, Black Pepper and Lemon Juice into a bowl and mix
2. Add one tablespoon chopped Parsley
3. Set aside
-Prepare Garnish-
1. Julienne Celery Sticks and Cucumbers, clean Parsley Leaves
2. Set aside
-Form and Cook Burgers-
1. Portion Beef into four 8-ounce patties
2. Wrap tightly and keep refrigerated until ready to use
3. Preheat a heavy skillet (preferably cast iron) over medium high heat
4. Season Burgers with Salt and Pepper
5. Place Burgers in skillet (no oil necessary, but a small tab of butter adds extra flavor)
6. Cook for approximately 4 to 6 minutes per side for medium
-Assemble-
1. Toast Buns
2. Place Burgers on toasted Buns, topping with Julienne Celery, Cucumbers & Parsley Leaves
3. Garnish with Lettuce, Tomato and Pickle
4. Serve with 2 ounces of Bloody Mary sauce on the side
