Edgar Martirosyan arrived at the Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre thinking he was delivering pizza to a group of writers and was told to wait.

Edgar, who actually owns the West Hollywood Big Mama’s and Papa’s pizza location on Sunset Boulevard, a little more than a mile from where the Oscars were held, had no idea he would be on television serving Hollywood’s biggest stars Sunday night, watched by 43 Million people.
Edgar has owned the store for eight years and told USA TODAY he does everything, from deliveries and baking to managing other stores.
After the pizza was safely delivered, Edgar went straight back to his pizza joint which has the record for the world’s largest deliverable pizza, something Edgar said he was proud of.
After the big debut of Big Mama’s and Papa’s Pizzeria at the Oscars 2014, they’ve been working nonstop due to the piles of orders they’re getting.

After making its Sunday debut on the Oscars, Big Mama’s and Papa’s ran out of dough and its website crashed. Business has increased at all 20 Big Mama’s and Papa’s locations.
“All of our locations are crazy busy right now,” Big Mama’s and Papa’s Pizzeria owner Ararat Agakhanyan told the Los Angeles Times.
“We had no idea that our pizzas were going to be on TV. We’re ordering supplies like mad, stocking up on cheese, pepperoni, sausage and boxes and shipping them out to the different stores.”
Edgar Appears On Piers Morgan Show
Edgar, dressed in a tartan blazer, discussed his experience on an episode of Piers Morgan.
“I was shocked,” Edgar told Morgan. “They told me, ‘Wait, the pizzas are for writers,’ and then Ellen came out and told me, ‘I’m going to tell you to follow me.”‘
Suddenly onstage at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre, Edgar maintained his cool and served Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep, Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Jared Leto, Harrison Ford, and Kerry Washington. [see photos and video]

Edgar’s cell phone quickly blew up with calls from friends and family in Russia, Armenia, and the States.
“It’s gotten more crazy here. A lot of people calling from all over the world: India, Australia, Germany. All over, man,” Edgar told Fox. “From Germany, they are asking me to go there in December for interviews for some news shows and stuff like that.”
“I was thinking that’s when you say the American dream, this is the real American dream,” he told Piers. “I was just shocked. It was really a great moment for me.”
10 Million in Free Advertising
Edgar has since created his own Twitter handle — @OscarpizzaEdgar — and the Big Mama’s and Papa’s chain received more than $10 million in free publicity where adverts during the telecast normally cost $1.8 million.
A single spot on the telecast ran for around $1.8 million, according to Variety. “We timed it out … Ellen spent 2 minutes passing out the 3 pies and another minute collecting the cash. That’s $10.8 mil.”
Ellen collected $600 worth of tip from Hollywood’s biggest stars. She threw in $400 herself to make a total of $1000.

Edgar also appeared on Ellen DeGeneres’ show where he collected a $1,000 tip — $600 of which came from celebs. According to ABC News, DeGeneres has ordered from Big Mama’s and Papa’s before for her daytime talk show.
The Los Angeles Times notes that celebrities in the audience shared their pizza party on Instagram and Twitter.
Jamie Foxx’s daughter Corrine Foxx shared a photo of herself eating the pizza on Twitter with the caption “Thanks @TheEllenShow haha we were actually starving!!! #pizza #oscars.”
Big Mama’s and Papa’s Pizzeria was blessed with free social media love through the celebrities’ social media accounts.

The Los Angeles chain, which has 20 locations and is an apparent staple for staff at the “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” only had a 3 ½ star rating on Yelp.
So Gallo decided to check out the pizza, and ordered three: The meat-lovers, the Aro pizza (pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, bacon, pepperchinis and white sauce, sprinkled with parmesan) and the multi-topping pizza made famous on Sunday’s show: pepperoni, mushrooms and olives.
“I tried the latter first. This isn’t gourmet stuff, but I loved it. The outer crust is crispy. The cheese was generous and stringy. The grease is visible and delicious. I brought a salad for lunch today. It’s still in the office fridge. Oops. The other two pizzas were just as good.”
